About the event
Join us in distributing Buddy Poppies to our community! This initiative symbolizes remembrance for those who sacrificed for our country and fosters support among veterans and civilians. Our first poppy distribution took place before Memorial Day in 1922, making us the first veterans' organization to do so nationwide, inspired by the poem "In Flanders Fields." In 1923, we decided that VFW "Buddy"® Poppies would be assembled by disabled and needy veterans, providing them with a way to contribute and earn financial assistance. Each poppy represents not only the memory of fallen heroes but also the resilience of those who served.
