Commander's Corner
Mike is a retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant with over 20 years of distinguished service in supply chain operations and program management. Originally from Houma, Louisiana, he served from July 1996 to August 2016, culminating his career at the Joint Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Throughout his military tenure, his career included assignments including the 51st Fighter Wing at Osan Air Base, Korea, and deployments to Turkey in support of Operation Northern Watch, Balad, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Djibouti supporting joint special operations missions.
Following his military retirement, Mike continued his service to the veteran community through the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is currently serving as Post 12218 Commander, District 8 Quartermaster, Grand of Virginia Hide Gimlet and Pup Tent 17 Seam Squirrel in the Military Order of the Cootie (MOC). At the national level, he has served as Aide-de-Camp and is a current member of the National Legislative Committee, advocating for policies that support veterans and their families.
Academically, Mike holds a MBA in Project Management from Columbia Southern University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Organizational Management and Communication at Florida State University. He is a Gold Legacy Life member of the VFW and remains deeply committed to leadership, community service, and veteran advocacy. Mike resides in Haymarket, Virginia, with his wife and their two children, both of whom are currently attending college. He continues to dedicate his time to strengthening his local community and supporting fellow veterans through service and leadership.

“The Honor Degree of the VFW” is comprised of officers and leadership dedicated to service. Our program, "Keep ‘em Smiling in Beds of White," involves thousands of volunteer hours at VA Hospitals. Reach out here if you are interested in becoming a Cootie.
